Today, I'd like to share a special story from a customization project I undertook this summer. Annalisa reached out to me with the idea of creating a personalized tote bag as a gift for her friend. The challenge was to represent his 5 favorite films in a unique and original composition. Here are the titles:
- "Billy Elliott" by Stephen Daldry
- "Suspiria" by Luca Guadagnino
- "Midsommar" by Ari Aster
- "Titanes" by Julia Ducournau
- "The Truman Show" by Peter Weir
Admittedly, I was a bit apprehensive initially, as I only knew two of the five films! However, I embraced the challenge, delving into research on information, posters, iconic scenes, and symbols associated with each film. The goal was to seamlessly incorporate elements into the embroidery.
After extensive online research and numerous drafts, these drawings took shape:
Annalisa instantly fell in love with the digital project, requiring no further modifications, granting me the green light to proceed with the creation.
I find immense joy in blending embroidery techniques with fabric painting, particularly for tote bags, as it produces a captivating final effect. Hence, for this specific bag, I opted to incorporate textile paint for certain elements. And here is the captivating final result:
A few days later, the bag was delivered to Rome, creating a delightful surprise!
I'm curious... were you able to recognize the different films? Share your thoughts in the comments if you enjoyed this customization!
